Media Watch/ The news of the conclusion of the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) held in Dubai is making headlines in the newspapers today. It is being reported in the news as a turning point in global efforts to tackle climate change.

A historic agreement was reportedly reached by all 198 participants, aptly named “The UAE Consensus”, which outlines an ambitious climate agenda. The aim of which was to keep the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius within their reach.

According to All India Radio, the "UAE Consensus" is a comprehensive document that calls for a transition away from fossil fuels to achieve net zero by 2050. 

It encourages participants to make nationally determined contributions. It also sets specific targets, including tripling renewable energy and doubling energy efficiency by 2030.

The news of the breach in Parliament security has been published prominently on almost all media. According to media reports, during the proceedings in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, there was an atmosphere of panic when suddenly two unknown persons jumped into the House. 

After this incident, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla immediately held an all-party meeting in view of the security breach in the lower house and discussed with party leaders the mechanism to further strengthen the security arrangements.
