Atal Ground Water Schemes, World Bank
Sagar Watch News/ World Bank assisted Atal Ground Water Scheme is being implimented in In Madhya Pradesh. Sagar district is included in the pilot project of this scheme. Under this, Water Security Plan (WSP) has been prepared in all the gram panchayats of district development block. In this respect a training program has been organised for all the related departments in the district panchayat semanar hall.
In this water security plan, the review of the water security plan prepared in the financial year 2023-24 and the approval of the works to be included in the water security plan for the financial year 2024-25 are to be done through the Village Water and Sanitation Committee.
Under Atal Ground Water Scheme, the works of Atal Ground Water Scheme in the district are to be reviewed by GIS expert RM Singh of State Program Management Unit (SPMU).
He said that the time till March 15 has been fixed for the approval of water security plans by the Village Water and Sanitation Committee, therefore, before the time period, the associates of all the line departments should complete this work and update it on the MIS portal.
Kunwar Waqar Naseem, social expert of the State Program Management Unit, said that Atal Groundwater Scheme is a community-based management program, under which, after primary and secondary survey work, the demand for water for village population, livestock and agriculture and the availability of water in the Gram Panchayat area is determined. Keeping in mind the difference, Water Security Plan (WSP) has to be prepared.
The implementation of the scheme is done with the help of Village Water Sanitation Ad-hoc Committee and villagers. The works taken under Water Security Plan (WSP) are to be implemented through convergence of schemes run by the Center and the State.
Among these schemes, schemes related to water conservation of Agriculture Department, Horticulture and Panchayat and Rural Development Department are prominent. Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad has been selected as District Implementation Partner (DIP) in the said scheme.
