Sagar Watch News/ The Territorial Army (TA) has organised a historic expedition to commemorate 75 years of dedicated service to the nation.
Starting from the rugged terrain and snowcapped peaks of Siachen Glacier, the world's highest battlefield, the expedition has passed through the most challenging and varied conditions and culminated in the expedition to Indira Point (Andaman & Nicobar), the southernmost tip of India, where the Tricolour will be hoisted at the southernmost tip of India.
Apart from cycling, activities like rowing and scoocha diving are included. The expedition team reached Sagar after covering a distance of 1830 km from Siachen Base Camp in Jammu & Kashmir via Manali, Chandigarh, Delhi, Agra, and Gwalior District.
On the occasion of the platinum jubilee of the Territorial Army, the team of the cycle expedition reached Sham Sagar Army Cantt.
The Center Commandant Brigadier Indrajit Singh Bhalla, Vishisht Seva Medal, welcomed the soldiers. On Thursday morning's 31st day of the cycling expedition, dated 29 August 2024, the commander of the 36 Infantry Division, Major General K T G Krishnan, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, flagged off the team for their destination. And on behalf of all ranks, the team was wished good luck for the further journey.
The team of cyclists led by Major Abhinav Rawat comprised 02 Officers, 02 Junior Commissioned Officers and 16 Jawans from various units, braving extreme weather conditions, rugged terrains and challenging heights, showcasing the indomitable spirit of the Indian Army.
During their spirited journey, the team interacted with locals, ex-servicemen, Indian Army veterans and families of war heroes. Besides, they also carried out various activities to inspire youth to join the Indian Army, promote adventurous spirit and planted trees to highlight the importance of environmental conservation.
