The landscape of journalism is changing with the advent of YouTube and other online resources. Students should also know how to publicize their work themselves, only then their image as journalists is built among the general public.

These views were expressed by Dr. Kalinath Jha, the newly appointed Head of the Department of Communication and Journalism of Dr. Harisingh Gour University, while introducing himself to the students in the dialogue program organized in the department and discussing the departmental work and teaching.

While teaching students about educational progress, he said that journalism students should always remain among the society and increase the scope of their work. Students should always work by being familiar with modern knowledge.

He said that just as a student of sociology studies the society, similarly a journalist provides information and ideas to the society even in adverse circumstances.

Emphasizing the role of women journalists, he said that now even in numbers, they are equal to men and play the role of correspondent in difficult situations like war, also. This is an indicator of changing times.

He advised the students to read books regularly and encouraged them to be in the company of senior citizens, saying that senior citizens of the society are like a library which has thousands of untold stories and experiences of their time. As a journalist, those experiences and knowledge can be used for your content.

In the welcome address, Aleem Ahmed Khan introduced the Head of the Department to the students. He said that the department and students will benefit from Dr. Jha's subject expertise.

Dr. Vivek Jaiswal introduced the courses conducted in the department. Which includes research along with undergraduate and postgraduate courses. He also informed about the progress of community radio, new building and other works in the department.

The program was conducted by research student Saloni Sharma and the vote of thanks was given by research student Anushka Tiwari.

Guest teacher of the Department of Sociology, Dr. Ravi, research scholars Amarmani Tripathi, Shyam Singh, Deepak Kumar along with all the students studying in postgraduate and undergraduate courses participated in the program.
