Sagar Watch News/ For the convenience of consumers in Madhya Pradesh, a toll free number will be issued at the state level. Consumers will be able to lodge complaints sitting at home on this number. On which immediate action will be taken. Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection informed about this arrangement while addressing the program organized in Bhopal today on World Consumer Rights Day.
He said that important provisions have been made in the interest of consumers in the Consumer Protection Act-2019 issued by the Government of India. Consumers can take appropriate action under these provisions.
Consumers have the right to information, safety and hearing in the selection of goods or services. Consumer can get appropriate redressal on unfair trade practices. He said that consumers should also make full use of the 'Right to Repair' right. Avoid being cheated under any circumstances.
The Consumer Minister said that consumer commissions have been constituted in 48 district headquarters of the state. Soon consumer commissions will also be formed in Alirajpur, Singrauli, Agar-Malwa and Niwari districts.
He said that till February 2024, 63 thousand 886 cases have been registered in the State Commission, out of which 56 thousand 738 have been resolved.
Similarly, 3 lakh 20 thousand 861 cases have been registered in all the District Consumer Commissions, out of which 2 lakh 90 thousand 333 have been resolved. The Commission is taking action on consumer complaints within time limit.
In the state level consumer protection award category, the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection gave the first prize of Rs 1 lakh 11 thousand to All India Consumer Upliftment Organization Katni and the second prize of Rs 51 thousand to Advocate Santosh Kumar Soni of Sagar.
In the state level essay competition, first prize was given to Ayushi Srivastava, second prize was given to Ms Avani Bairagi and third prize was given to Gayatri Ahirwar.
In the poster competition, Ms. Devi Lodhi stood first, Ms. Sonali Verma got second and Ms. Anupama Kakodiya got the third prize.
In the exhibitions organized by various departments, the first prize was given to the exhibition of Food Corporation of India, second prize was given to Madhya Pradesh Warehousing and Logistics Corporation and third prize was given to the exhibition of Food and Drug Administration Department. The drama “Jago-Grahak-Jago” was also staged in the programme.
