Sagar Watch/ An academic agreement was signed here today between Dr. Harisingh Gour University and Mahar Regiment Center of the Indian Army. The objective of which is to upgrade the educational, professional and technical skills of the officers, soldiers, Agniveer and their families of the Mahar Regiment.
In this program organized at Suresh Chandra Auditorium, Mahar Regiment Center, Sagar, Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Neelima Gupta and Brigadier Inderjit Singh Bhalla signed the MoU.
In her address as the chief guest on this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Neelima Gupta said that this is a historic academic agreement to be held on the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Day of Baba Saheb.
On one hand, Baba Saheb presented legislation to the country for education for all, while Dr. Gour built a university for this purpose. This academic agreement is the joint culmination of the great resolutions of both Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Dr. Harisingh Gour, she said.
She also said that while the Mahar Regiment as a unit of the Indian Army is preparing brave and skilled soldiers, a university, while playing its role, will also provide them degrees along with academic, professional and technical skills.
In this connection, Brigadier Bhalla, who was presiding over the function, said that the women of the families of the Mahar Regiment not only stand with their children and families but also encourage their young sons all the time.
This academic agreement will pave the way for their education and skill development. With the help of the courses being prepared for the Agniveers, they will be able to enrich their lives at the level of employment and skills even after military service in the future.
Documentary films of Mahar Regiment and University were also screened at the function.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Gupta and Brigadier Bhalla presented mementos to each other. On this occasion, Registrar in-charge Dr. SP Upadhyay, Prof. Herrell Thomas, Prof. MS Pahwa, Prof. SK Kashaw, Dr. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Vivek Jaiswal, Praveen Rathore were present as a university delegation. The program was conducted by military instructor Varun Kumar Singh.
