Sagar Watch/ Sagar-based Shahbaz Division of the Indian Army organized a marathon race on Sunday on the 75th Republic Day. The marathon race was inaugurated by showing the flag in the presence of chief guest Major General Deepak Singh Vishisht Sena Medal War and many military officers.
This program was dedicated to strengthening the spirit of healthy life, unity and coordination among Indian military personnel and civilians under Unity.
The youngest runner in this marathon was 10 year old student Master Inumun. Who covered the distance of 5 km in 24 minutes and got the first place. In the 05 km women's category, all three prizes were won by local girls of Sagar, in which Sheetal Kushwaha stood first with a time of 20 minutes.
More than 653 military personnel, civilians, women and school students participated in this program of Sagar Trail Run. These included 384 soldiers, 164 men/women and 105 women family members.
In this race, 12 km men/women and 05 km women and students participated in this race under different categories.
In the 12 km men category, constable Deepak Singh from 108 TA Mahar came first and completed the race in 40 minutes and in the 12 km women category, Divya, a local resident of Sagar, stood first in 45 minutes time.
The race was held on Vindhyachal Trails built by Shahbaz Division through the trails and streams of the natural forest of Sagar.
This race was more than a marathon race, it was a cross country run, which was organized on very difficult and inaccessible roads. In which the runners also enjoyed the beauty.
Prizes were distributed to the winners by the chief guests. The event ended with Zumba, prize distribution and food. The Unity Run has promoted the confidence and unity of citizens in the armed forces.
All the people of Sagar region welcomed this trail run organized by the Indian Army and expressed hope that such events will continue to be organized for the spirit of unity and harmony.
